Fresh off one of their most memorable seasons in team history, the Falmouth Commodores are prepping for another summer of baseball in the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). Opening night at Guv Fuller Field is just days away and reigning CCBL Manager of the Year Jeff Trundy returns for his 19th season at the helm of the ‘Dores.
Last summer the Commodores clinched the President’s Cup with a league leading 29 wins. Other highlights included Jeffery Passantino (Lipscomb) winning CCBL Most Outstanding Pitcher with a 0.62 ERA and Michael Gigliotti (also Lipscomb) being named the Cape League’s Top Pro Prospect. The team earned six All-Star nominations including RHP Passantino, OF Gigliotti, RHP Brady Puckett, DH Tyler Lawrence, INF Tristan Gray and OF Trevor Larnach.
After fighting to win the Western Division crown in the playoffs, they fell to the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in Game Three of the CCBL Championship series. The ‘Dores have not won the CCBL Championship since 1980.
Falmouth aims to continue their 2016 success with another stellar team led by Jeff Trundy. Many of this year’s incoming Commodores have not reported yet due to the College World Series, the roster will continue to change throughout the upcoming weeks so keep an eye out on the newly updated Commodores website for the latest changes to the team.
